How the Class C Standings are looking!

08 September 2023

There’s only one race remaining of the 2023 Trackday Championship season! Perhaps part of the reason why this season has seemingly flown by is the incredible excitement we have been treated to on circuit, from an epic season opener at Silverstone to a gripping penultimate round at Oulton Park and everything in-between.

Focus now firmly shifts to the 2023 Trackday Championship season finale, on the fast and furious Brands Hatch Indy circuit at the end of October (28th). Ahead of the finale, Trackday Championship will be releasing a series of articles looking back at how each of the three classes have unfolded so far this year and which teams/drivers are in the hunt for class championship glory!

Having previously looked at the situation in Class D, our attention now shifts to the Class C standings and how things are shaping up ahead of our October trip to Kent.

Over the course of this season, a number of teams have put in standout performances in Class C. PRO-AM Racing’s duo of Jack Kemp and Louis Harvey have enjoyed a stellar 2023, including a magnificent run of four consecutive class podiums from Silverstone to Brands Hatch Grand Prix. Unique Racing’s Charlie Palk recorded an impressive fifth place finish overall at the Super Touring Power event, while Wolf Motorsport’s Chris Reade will have enjoyed a brilliant, battling race at Oulton Park last month. However, one driver in particular has stole the show in Class C this season – Se7en Motorsport’s Stewart Donovan. The Toyota Celica driver has put in a number of faultless drives, managing to best higher-classed competitors and record class victories at each round of the 2023 season. While victories haven’t always been easy, (less than one second at Oulton Park!), Donovan has repeatedly shown his excellent racecraft to remarkably seal the Class C championship before the final round of the season. A huge congratulations to Stewart and his team!

The remainder of the top three in the overall class standings are up for grabs still. As things stand, without drop scores considered, PRO-AM Racing have a 22 point lead over Wolf Motorsport in third, with Wolf Motorsport in turn having an 18 point lead over Aindale Racing’s Wayne Cockerill in fourth. Given the amount of points on offer over a race weekend, the class finishing positions are set to go right down to the wire!

While Se7en Motorsport’s Stewart Donovan may have already sealed the class title, the Celica driver has plenty to fight for at the season finale, as he looks set to take on a number of Class B rivals for overall championship glory in 2023! Find out more in our next article, releasing soon…..
