Cadwell Park once again delivered a dramatic backdrop for round two of the Trackday Championship, with the Lincolnshire circuit’s narrow track and steep elevation changes producing an action-packed contest.
Qualifying saw Michael Rawlings stamp his authority aboard the BMW E36, producing a stunning 1:37.061 to secure pole position after a close fight at the top of the time sheets. The Wright/Wright VW Golf pairing came closest, just 0.682s adrift, while Matt Swaffer completed an all-Class B top three in his BMW 130i. Ashley Parsons led the way in Class C with an impressive 1:39.849 in the Toyota Celica, breaking into the overall top four ahead of Stephen Docker and the Shead/Edeson Honda Civic pairing. In Class D, Jack Hargraves delivered a standout performance in the Mazda MX-5 Mk3 to take class honours, underlining the pace he carried throughout the session.
The race itself proved to be hugely competitive, with consistency and reliability all playing a major role over the 40-minute encounter. Although Rawlings initially controlled the race from pole and set the fastest lap of the contest with a blistering 1:36.982, it was Matt Swaffer who emerged victorious after maintaining relentless pace and capitalising late in the race to secure the overall win. Behind him, Ashley Parsons delivered one of the drives of the day, keeping the Toyota Celica firmly in contention throughout to claim second overall and victory in Class C. Stephen Docker completed the podium after a composed and consistent drive in the Mazda MX-5.
Wayne Cockerill and Paul McHugh both impressed with strong top-six finishes in Class C machinery, while Jack Hargraves converted his qualifying pace into a deserved Class D victory in seventh overall. Alister Esam and Steven Orant completed the Class D podium positions after disciplined drives in a race where consistency proved crucial.
