Race Preview: Donington Park National

19 August 2026

Donington Park is next for Round 5 of the 2026 Trackday Championship (TDC), as racing returning to the Derby circuit on Saturday 29th August. With just three TDC rounds remaining after Donington, the battle for class honours is beginning to intensify throughout the field.

Donington Park is a firm driver favourite, with its fast, flowing layout providing plenty of opportunities for close racing. The wide straights and heavy braking zones offer drivers the chance to make moves into the likes of Redgate corner and the Roberts complex, while the high-speed decent of Craner Curves highlights the varied challenge of the circuit!

As we enter the second half of the season, the championship is really starting to heat up!  Paddock Performance’s Michael Rawlings made significant progress at Anglesey to draw level at the top of the standings with Matt Swaffer in the #45 Swaffer Racing BMW 130i. Before drop scores, the pair currently sit on equal points with 101 a piece at the top of the standings and Class B. Team Air Supply’s #46 Golf at the hands of Jack and George Wright, and Ashley Parsons Se7en Motorsport/Michael John Floorings #83 Toyota Celica, from Class C, keep the leading pair honest, with just a slim margin to the top spot. Harts Racing #245 Honda Civic, driven by Phil and James Hart, and Stephen Docker’s #153 Mk3 MX-5 sit second and third in Class C, with just 5 points separating them.

In Class D, Jack Hargraves’ consistency in the Boreham Motorsport #66 MX-5 has kept him at the head of the standings, with #16 Alister Esam / BC Cars Motorsport’s Mk3 MX-5 and Steven Orant’s #56 MX-5 Mk4 currently occupying second and third respectively, with almost nothing between them.

With the points battles tightening across all three classes, it is all still to play for as the Trackday Championship heads to Donington Park. With just three rounds remaining after this weekend, every position could prove crucial in the fight for the 2026 honours.

For this TDC round the livestream will be available to watch on the MSVT Racing Youtube Channel!
