Having looked into more depth at how both Class C and Class D have unfolded so far this season, its now time to focus on the highest-powered class that Trackday Championship has to offer – Class B.
As things stand, Clubracer’s duo of Henry Wright and Kevin Glover are the team at the head of the class championship standings heading into the penultimate race of the year.
The reigning Class D Champions made the move up to Class B for the 2025 season, replacing their Ford Fiesta with a Volkswagen Golf. With four consecutive podium finishes, it’s a move that’s proved fruitful so far and the pair find themselves sixteen points ahead of their nearest class rival. A standout moment from their campaign will surely be their first overall victory at Donington Park, narrowly missing out on a second win at Cadwell Park by just 0.254s!
As that result suggests, Class B has been extremely competitive again this year. Four different teams have claimed victories, with reigning Champion Nicole Drought (Motion Motorsport) being the only repeat winner to date. Drought’s victories came courtesy of fantastic performances in the opening two races of the year, with a further podium trophy coming in front of the Cult Classics crowd at Cadwell Park.
Swaffer Racing’s Matt Swaffer finished narrowly behind Drought in the opening two rounds, before taking a well-deserved win at Oulton Park in August. There’s been plenty of gripping racing in Class B in 2025, with both Drought and Swaffer very much playing their part. This is surely set to continue into the final two rounds, with the two drivers currently level on points!
However, it’s a fellow Volkswagen Golf that is currently sat second in the Class B standings, in the form of Team Air Supply’s father and son duo – George and Jack Wright. The pair have gone from strength to strength as the season has progressed, culminating in a win at Cadwell Park last time out. With a race at their local circuit Croft up next, the pair will be itching to get back on circuit to try and reduce the gap to Clubracer ahead of the season finale in November.
Outside of the afore-mentioned teams, plenty of others have impressed in 2025. Apple Car Centre’s Jordan Honeybone looked sharp to finish on the Snetterton podium, while the same can be said about Unique Racing’s Charlie Palk at Oulton Park. 2022 Champion John Lyne’s fourth-placed finish at Cadwell Park underline that he is another that will be looking to push on in the remaining two races too.
It's set to be a fascinating conclusion to the year!
