Following a round on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit last month, Trackday Championship returns to Kent on June 15 for the third race of the 2024 season. This time, Lydden Hill will be the venue welcoming TDC competitors – for the first time in the championship’s history!
A visit to a new circuit is always a source of intrigue and it’ll be fascinating to see which teams make best of the opportunity. In addition to winning a bespoke trophy and earning a haul of championship points, the top three in each class will etch themselves into the TDC history books as the first to do so at Lydden Hill. It won’t be easy though, with tricky corners such as Devil’s Elbow and Paddock Bend amongst those testing competitors throughout the 45-minute race.
For a closer look at Lydden Hill, read our ‘In Focus’ article here.
Last time out, Team Rebbieha’s Paul Mchugh and Will Heslop combined to secure overall and Class B victory on the historic Brands Hatch GP circuit. Meanwhile, LDR Performance Tuning’s Ben Jenkins and Independent’s Stephen Docker saw off all rivals to finish first in Class C and D respectively. The competitiveness of the field was once again made apparent given that all three class winners were different to those at the season opener at Donington Park the month prior.
To recap how each of the class winners achieved victories, read our race report here.
With only two races down and five to go, there’s still plenty of points to play for in the championship standings. Team Air Supply’s father and son duo George and Jack Wright currently lead the way overall, with an eight point lead over Motion Motorsport’s Drought/Roberts pairing. PRO-AM Racing have amassed a slight gap ahead of LDR Performance Tuning in the Class C standings, while a tremendous couple of rounds see Fiesta Club Racer’s Wright/Glover top of the Class D standings – and third overall!
How will the standings look after Round Three? Not long until we find out…
